Three passages in the New Testament describes the sealing of believers by the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13; 4:30). Sealing is a commercial term. Suppose a shipment is accepted and paid fully, then the owner puts a seal on the shipment. This seal guarantees its acceptance when it reaches its destination.
