A mother who had lost her child to a cracker explosion on the evening of a New Year made an earnest plea to the Lord. She prayed that if the Lord blessed her with another baby, she would raise the child in the fear of the Lord and offer him/her to His service. As an answer to her prayers, Yesudasan was born in 1917 in a small village called Passuvandanai in Tamil Nadu.
Yesudasan was an intelligent student and led an exemplary Christian life among the students. He excelled in his studies and took up a career as a teacher. His teaching style was novel and simple for the children to understand the concepts. He taught the lessons in the form of poems which facilitated easy learning for the children.
However, his burden to serve God motivated him to take up theological training. After which, he was appointed in Tirunelveli Diocese to serve the Lord. He was an efficient spiritual leader who led many people to the experience of salvation. Yesudasan was also concerned about the outcasts and worked hard for their welfare. Through the Youth in Christ movement, he led many young boys and girls on the path of salvation.
Yesudasan was a man of prayer and had the gift of tongues. He never stretched his hand for help and only depended on God for all his needs. With a deep knowledge of scriptures, he counseled many people in the diocese and strengthened their faith. With immense knowledge of music, he wrote many songs and played several musical instruments. Come what may, he never let the situation affect his ever-cheerful demeanor. Society still remembers him as the messenger of God and appreciates him for his spiritual guidance and social concern.
