7/9/2024 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) — The village of Ayati in the Ukum local government area in Benue state is reeling following the massacre of 11 Christians by Fulani Militant terrorists in the early hours of July 3.
Residents said the militants stormed the community and opened fire, killing 11 people and injuring several others. The Internal Security Adviser to Benue State Governor Chief Joseph Har confirmed the attack and added, “We don’t have the details yet, but Fulani militants are responsible.”
The attack sparked protest from angry youth who stormed Sankera, the headquarters of the Ukum government, calling for authorities to respond to the attack.
Ukum is one of the three local government areas in the Sankera ancestral bloc that has been plagued by armed militants for many years.
